Introduction
Datin Jeanette Tambakau is the Founder of the Association Sabah of Social Entrepreneurs & Eco Development (SEED) . Many of her achievements include volunteering, mentoring, as well as working with the marginalized community, and doing successful fundraisings. She is recognised for her sustainable, renewable energy community work in rural areas of Sabah, Borneo Malaysia. She also provides vocational and socio-economic (SE) programs to include more women to be trained in livelihood skills such as agriculture, sewing, stingless bee harvesting, environmental stewardship, micro-enterprising skills and financial management. These additional skills help them increase their productivity and generate higher incomes. It is with the goal in mind that these women become self-reliant, resilient and create sustainable rural communities of which they can be proud.
Milestone 1: National Development Jari Jari Spa Training Academy.
Jari Jari Spa Training Academy was founded in 2012 and accredited by local and foreign agencies, collaborates with various Ministries in Malaysia to train over 1,500 low-income individuals in massage therapy, providing guaranteed job employment or business opportunities to Malaysia’s hardcore poor, particularly single mothers and underprivileged youth . With the grant provided, Jari Jari Spa Academy empowered low income groups with economic opportunities.
Milestone 2 : Regional Exchange Barefoot Solar Project in Sabah 2013-2023.
The policy of the Barefoot College is to take students, primarily women from the poorest villages and teach them skills such as installing, maintaining and repairing solar equipments and lamps without requiring then to read or write. With the help of Bunker Roy, founder of Barefoot College, international and national organizations, Barefoot Solar Project in Sabah was able to send Grandmothers to India and be trained to become solar engineers, The Solar Mamas.
Milestone 3: Going Glocal SEED 2022.
